Jordan M. Pastorek, M.D.
Founder and CEO
Live Young, PA
Dr. Pastorek currently works as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist in a private group in the Plano area, treating his acutely ill, hospitalized patients, most of whom also have significant chronic illnesses. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at Louisiana State University, Health Science Center, in New Orleans, Louisiana and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
His interest in Preventative Medicine began when he attended Euro Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training through the Air Force. Prior to leaving for flight training, Dr. Pastorek was a young Internal Medicine Resident, still learning about the horrible diseases that plague our overweight, unhealthy society. When he left his residency training program to learn to fly jet aircraft, Dr. Pastorek was struck by the differences between the people he worked with through flight training compared with the chronically ill patients he cared for as a medicine resident. He has been haunted ever since by the question, "How do young, healthy individuals change into chronically ill patients, living with pain and suffering on a daily basis...and only after 2 to 3 decades?"
After Dr. Pastorek was awarded his Air Force Pilot Wings, he returned to finish his last few months of residency training. During that time, he was first exposed to Preventative Medicine, when he earned his Air Force Flight Surgeon Wings at the Aerospace Medicine Primary Course at Brooks City-Base, San Antonio.
Dr. Pastorek completed his Internal Medicine Residency and moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to start his Hospitalist Practice, while working as a Traditional Guardsman with the Alabama Air National Guard. He served one weekend a month at Dannely Field in Montgomery, ensuring that the Alabama Air National Guard F-16 Fighter Pilots were fit to fly, fight, and win! While the average age of the student pilots Dr. Pastorek trained with hovered around the early 20's, the average age of the seasoned fighter pilots in the Alabama Air Guard was closer to 40. It became clear to Dr. Pastorek that even this select group of warriors shows signs of aging. From chronic pain, to hearing loss, to hypertension, even the most physically fit among us struggle to fight the aging process.
Then Dr. Pastorek noticed something about himself. As he approached his mid-thirties, his own body began to show signs of aging. Aches and pains increased, energy levels dropped, sleeping at night proved more challenging. It was happening to him! Dr. Pastorek, determined not to lose this fight, began drawing on his experience with chronic illness and looked further into the realm of preventative medicine in an effort to effectively combat this creeping process. In his search, Dr. Pastorek discovered the world of bioidentical hormone replacement. He had his levels checked by one of his Hospitalist partners who specialized in this relatively new field. Dr. Pastorek was found to be deficient in certain hormones and was prescribed his own bioidentical hormone replacement program. After noticing significant results in his own life, Dr. Pastorek decided that this type of practice would be much more fulfilling than Hospitalist Medicine, where patients are treated only after the damage is done. He joined the American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine (A4M), signed up for their Fellowship in Anti-Aging Medicine, and flew out to Las Vegas to complete the first module of the fellowship.
Dr. Pastorek's journey began as a realization that in the 3rd decade of life, there begins a steady decline which greatly affects people's quality of life and overall health. Through his own research and through the expertise of A4M, he realized that this steady decline can be effectively treated. While there is no real fountain of youth, and while we have not yet progressed to the point where we can cure aging and eliminate all disease and ultimately death, we CAN change certain variables that will significantly improve our quality of life for the short time we are here on this beautiful planet. We can also extend life by preventing certain diseases which are known to shorten life.
As Founder and CEO of Live Young, PA, Dr. Pastorek asks, "How do you live?" His mission is to provide the highest quality of preventative medical care to patients in the North Dallas area and around the world using cutting edge therapies, including bioidentical hormone replacement and natural nutritional supplements and to bring this care to his patients' doorsteps through housecalls.
